How Do I Join?
At Highland, we believe that the Bible clearly indicates that each Christian is expected to be a contributing member of a local church for our encouragement, our instruction, and for our protection. We have a four-step process that those who wish to join have been walking through.
First, a prospective member would contact the elders and let them know they want to go through a membership class. In our membership class, we cover HBCs Statement of Faith, our Covenant, the history of the church, the reasons to join a church, and missions and outreach. This class generally takes place on Sunday Mornings during the Sunday School hour.
Upon completion of the membership class, the prospective member would need to set up a meeting with an elder to go through a membership interview. During this interview, the prospective member would give evidence of his or her conversion, their understandign of the gospel, and their affirmation of the Statement of Faith and the Covenant.
After the prospective member has met with one or more of the elders for the membership interview, at the next scheduled elder meeting, they will be presented to the council of elders, who will then vote on their affirmation of the member to be presented to the church as a prospective member.
After that, at the next member's meeting, the whole church will vote on the affirmation of the prospective member into full membership.
